Why Australia?

Indians love to study abroad, can't blame them there, but a lot of students go to the USA. Why USA? Ok let's not go there. Why not some other country? Why not Australia?
Let's see why more students should go to Australia.
1. Great University Choice: I started with this because studying abroad is a huge investment and nobody should risk things like this. Australia has a limited number of Universities but there are now many up and coming Universities that will be a great choice. Age old campuses like University of Sydney, University of Melbourne, and Australian National University are world famous.
2. Perfect place for any major: No matter which major you chose Australia has a a perfect support for it. It's easy for students to find internships
or jobs.
3. No Language Barriers: Don't worry about learning foreign languages (you can if you want to) because they speak in English. Their accent might be different but hey you don't have to make those awkward hand movements at all. They understand us perfectly.
4. Fun Place to live and learn: Every major city in Australia has many places students can visit, like pubs, beaches, museums, clubs, restaurants and so on. It's also a best place to socialize. If you are someone who loves the adrenaline rush then Australia has it all-snorkeling, sky diving, scuba diving, surfing, tennis, football, you name it and it's there! Even the people here are very welcoming and friendly. Most of the time you find laid back crowd who enjoy every moment of life. What else do you need?
5. Unique Flora and Fauna: Have you heard of giant spiders and weird plants and animals that exist in Australia. Well most of the species that are found are unique only to Australia, isn't that cool? For all science majors this is a bonus point.
6. Amazing Culture: It is the land of the oldest known humans and also it is a melting pot with people from over 200 countries living here. The mix in cultures makes it an interesting place. Not just academically, you will also grow as a person by learning about different people from all over the world.
7. Cause going to USA is too mainstream: If you want to stand out among your friends and family then try going to a new place. Very few people (especially from India) go there to study. When studying abroad make it a point to come out of your comfort zone, don't find other Indians to hang out with but rather mingle with everyone. Australia forces you to do that in a way as not many Indians are available for you.

Work Rules for International Students

International students studying abroad in Australia usually want to work part time while studying in the country. For them, it is important to be aware of the rules that regulate them under their student visa when it comes to work. International students in Australia on a valid student visa are allowed to 20 hours per week while school is in session, and there is no limit during recognized school vacations.

A work week in Australia is considered to be Monday through the following Sunday. Although Students are allowed to arrive in Australia up to 90 days before their course begins, students are not allowed to begin working until after their courses have begun. The 20-hour-per-week limit does not extend to any work the student is required to undertake as a component of his or her studies or training. Volunteer and unpaid work does count towards the 20 hours. If an international student works more than the Australian restrictions allow, his or her visa may be cancelled.

Family members (spouses and children) accompanying the international student under their student visa have the same work rights as the student – 20 hours per week. Unlike the students, family members may not exceed 20 hours per week, even during holidays. For those students obtaining a graduate degree, like a masters degree, their family can work unlimited hours. Like students, family
members are allowed to work until after the student has started his or her course.

Students are now able to receive permission to work along with their visa grant. This applies both to the student and any family members who may be traveling with the student under his or her visa. This saves students both time and money when applying for visas and work permission. When applying for a visa, students will need to supply a confirmation of enrollment issued by the Australian educational institution which the student intends to attend as part of their application.  It serves as proof that the student is really staying in Australia for educational purposes.

Other rules and restrictions under Australian student visas include:
  •     Students are required to pursue a consistent study program that has been approved by the Australian government.
  •     Students have to fulfill all of the requirements of the study program in which they are enrolled.
  •     Students must maintain satisfactory attendance in their course and course progress for each study period as required by their school.
  •     Students are required to maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

Working during your stay in Australia is a great way for international students to supplement their finances. However, it is extremely important to be aware of the restrictions placed upon you as an
international student. If you violate any of these restrictions, your student visa may be revoked and you could be deported out of Australia. For further details , contact Confluence here.
